There is often a debate amongst patrons who return time and again to OppiePlaas’s Pub and Restaurant on why they do so. Some say that they come back to enjoy the personal and warm hospitality that Niel and Erna as owners of the farm and the restaurant offer. Others say that they come back for the signature steaks and the finest home-cooked meals. City and town folk claim that they come to enjoy the tranquility of the farm and its surroundings.
But, in the end, when meeting in the warm ambiance of this rustic and homelike setting, locals and holiday makers, strangers and friends alike agree that this pub and restaurant stands out as a destination where one can still enjoy a real meal with hints of grandma’s home cooking, where friends meet to strengthen existing friendships and where strangers soon become friends. A timeless place to return to.
The lamb and chicken served in the restaurant are free-range meat from the farm, as is the A-grade beef which is matured to perfection in the farm’s cold rooms. The mouth-watering hamburger patties, the selection of scrumptious pies, as well as the variety of pizzas – all available for on-site consumption or takeaway – are carefully prepared in the farm’s kitchen according to proven family recipes, and with honest-to-goodness ingredients. This even applies to the must-have rusks that guests munch with their morning coffee!
During Easter and Christmas holiday seasons, and over selected long weekends, the pub and restaurant which offers seating for up to 30 guests, is open seven days a week from 10:00 until late. Sit inside, or enjoy your meal outside in the shade of magnificent Flamboyant trees in the well-maintained park like garden with its farm atmosphere, while keeping an eye on the children running freely, playing on the jungle gym, or bottle-feeding hansie lambs.
Apart from meals, guests can also watch sport on a wide screen television or enjoy cocktails and craft beer in our intimate pub or outside in the garden.
OppiePlaas Haga Haga Pub and Restaurant also caters for theme-events such as Mothers’ Day, Valentine’s Day and Christmas luncheons, as well as special events such as craft beer and wine tastings, and special menu evenings.

Easter, Christmas holiday season and selected long weekends
- Mondays – Saturdays: 10:30 until late (kitchen closes at 20:00)
- Sundays: 10:30 – 15:00 (kitchen closes at 14:00)
- Closed on Christmas Eve, 26 December and New Year’s Eve
Off-season (from 5 January)
- Open on Saturdays
- Lunch: 11:30 – 15:00 (kitchen closes at 14:00)
- Evening: 18:00 – 21:00 (kitchen closes at 20:00)
Note: We’ll open with pleasure on any day for groups of more than 10 by prior arrangement.

“Our family’s list of favourite places to eat”
OppiePlaas Haga Haga has earned it’s place on our family’s list of favourite places to eat. The food was prepared to perfection and portion sizes beyond ample. Even a 6 year old fussy eater cleaned his plate. But what will keep us going back is the absolutely lovely family of hosts. Thank you for making us feel so at home and welcome and thanks for the good laughs. Your willingness to go out of your way for us and to accommodate every request will have us back every time we visit Haga Haga. To anyone reading this – if you find yourself in the area, don’t bother visiting another restaurant. None will compare.
